The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Installing crankcase breather valve on a 216

My 216's got a freeze plug in the hole where the breather tube is supposed to go (by the distributor and fuel pump). After I drill and pull that plug out, how does the breather tube mount? From its looks, it just slides right down in there, but what keeps it in place?

It is supposed to be a tight fit and there is a band around the tube with a strap that attaches to a pan bolt.

hmm. I could be wrong, but I dont recall seeing a band around it. I only looked at it for a second though..

That attachment band is often missing (from being broken off during removals over the years - my guess).
