I am in the middle of wiring up my truck and was making the connections to the generator when I went to remove the old nut from the field (F) post and the post began to turn instead of the nut.
Has it come loose from an internal connection? Should the field post be able to spin?

For now I have left the original nut on and connected the wire with another nut on top but will this generator work without needing repairs to this post?
The truck is a 46 1/2 ton, keeping it 6 volt, all original equipment. Except for the seats- they found a good home with another bolter!

Thanks in advance, Aaron.

It is supposed to have 2 nut's. One holds the post tight & the second goes on top the wire term with a lock washer.

Thank you for the response, it sounds like it's ok then. Over the years things will get altered, I guess. Not always great work either.
I'm not 100% sure how the coil should be connected. The one installed is pointed down (in the original position I do believe) with one post pointed up and the other pointed down. I know the armored cable from the ignition lock goes to one and the other gets connected to the distributor(no polarity reversing switch). But which one goes where?

I think, from pictures I have found, that the ignition cable connects to the post pointing up. Can anyone confirm this?

The high tension outlet points down. The armored cable goes on top & goes to the ign. switch. The small term on the bottom goes to the coil.

Perfect. Just about finished.

That just leaves me with the connection from the ignition switch to the ammeter to the headlight switch (according to the wiring diagram). But the harness skips the ammeter. Not sure if This will be ok or not. Anyone know offhand?

Time to get back to work.
