I also have a 1956 1/2 ton rear axle and front spindles.
Now the Questions, ..
1) What is the gear ratio in the 1956 axle?
2) Can I unbolt and replace the axle with the other without a major operation, and will the front spindles swap out the same?
I am sure someone out there has either done something simular, or given it a try.
Thanks in advance.

I've only had it on the freeway once-I'm working on tightening up the steering now- but the combination seems good. I'm guessing that 2,000 rpm gets me to about 70 mph, which is as fast as I need to go in this truck.
My original differential was a 4.57, and changing to the 4.10 made quite a difference. | | |
