On a later 235 with solid lifters, what's the adjustment lash need to be for the rocker arms? I've heard 0.030" but I'd like to be sure.

Thanks.

I think the 235 and 261 settings in these instructions for setting 216/235/261 valve lash are correct for later 235s and 261s.

Even if the settings are a little off, a .030" setting is greater than any I've seen for these engines.

I will guess that it is closer to .006 intakes and .016 exhaust. Exhaust will usually be set looser due to higher temps and actually the cooling of the valve comes from more time on valve seat.

.006 and .013 are what I've used for all non hydraulic valves on 216's and 235's from 1932 to 1962, never had a burnt valve or any valve train problems.

.006 and .016 are correct for the '55-'59 235,.006 and .020 for the 261. Performance cams should be set to the cam manufacturer's specifications-example; Howard M4F-.012 intake-.016-exhaust.
