I am ready to paint my engine and have a question on color. The Filling Station sells a grey engine paint and says it is correct for the GMC and Chevy 41 engine. J.C. Carter sells a grey for the Chevy but has an "olive" color for the GMC [see page 108}. What is right? I want the original color also what is the color on the steering mast? Thanks

I think they were different depending on the year.
Ive seen both colors used on GMC's.

The engine in my 45 is gray with a red cylinder head. It's a 248
I dont know if it is the original color. It has been rebuilt at one time.
The engine is not the original engine to the truck, but it is correct.
