I'm reassembling my aluminum '62 powerglide for a 6 cyl, it's the original and hadn't been apart before.

I can't get the clearance for the reverse clutch pack (right now there's a 3/16" gap and it should be .016-.040")

My trans came with a select reverse pacer plate with no Bellville spring or wave washer... I'm wondering if the gap is normal for this situation (or should the spacer should be thicker, or find a spring / wave washer...)

Thanks for any advice,

Matt

Stack two steel plates together just ahead of the piston before you start adding fiber plates to the stackup. The clearance should fall right into place.

Thanks, that put me right at the small end of the clearance (.016)
