It's time to re-wire and am I thinking about buying the one for $149 from Chevy classic parts. Any reasons not to buy that one, I have no idea but it looks like a good buy. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | It is a good buy.
The only possible negatives are related to your tastes and interests:
1. The wires are plastic-coated but original wires were cloth-braided (no big deal, unless you are really concerned with authenticity).
2. There are no extra wires provided for adding extra circuits (except, extra wires are included for turn signals - at least they used to be provided - check with a phone call). This is also no big deal, unless you want to add extra electrical equipment.

Good diagram and circuit lists, all numbered and easy to follow. | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 56 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 56 | | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 321 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2007 Posts: 321 | I just received my harness from classic parts. While it's not a period correct harness as Tim mentions, it's pretty nice, especially for the money. | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 27 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 27 | I am ready to install my Classic Parts harness. All I got was a wire harness with small tags on the wires to locate both ends. I have the wiring manual they sell and a wire diagram but no other instructions came with the harness. Am I missing something? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | That is all that came with the harnesses that they have sent to me.
Do you have any wiring in place? If yes, lay out the pieces you have and compare them to the ones on your truck. If no, your installation will be much more difficult to understand/plan/carry-out.

Pay attention as to what firewall hole the wires pass through and have your rubber wiring seals in place or at least able to feed the wire through before attaching to a gauge or starting system. I had to pull one out having located it incorrectly. I also used trash bag ties to keep wires in groups orderly as I ran them. They can be taped or tied prmanently together after I know all is correct. I'm just really taking my time, double, triple checking as I go.

They'll tell you if something is missing. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Oops. There were 4 pages with my harnesses, just as Drew described.

I plan to buy the wire harness for my 48 from them.
The only change I made was to add halogen headlights and bought that harness from LMC.
