I have a 1951 chevy that is light blue. Went to a local paint store but they did not have anything in there books that goes back that far. I am hesitant to pick a paint color from a paint chip. I think it is windsor blue. Also looking at buying a new hvlp gravity feed gun but don't know where and what kind is any good.

You went to the wrong paint store. If you must order on line: Google: Auto Color Library, when you get to home page, on the right fill in/select chevrolettruck and 1951. Click on the color chart and you will find Windsor Blue. Mouse over it to magnify. Fill in the exact name at top right as windsor blue and you will see all kinds of products to order to paint your truck original Windsor Blue. You will need to study and study to decide on type of paint. They give you several options. Then the thinners/reducers and clear coats that go with it and then order. At least you will have the paint to give to a painter if you decide to get it done by a pro. There is tons of info on painting in the Stovebolt and on the web but only practice will make you a painter. Anyway this is a fab website to get all the old Mfg numbers and PPG numbers and color codes. They usually include the interior and two tone colors if that was available for your truck. The specs are also given for the paint. Looks like one gal urethane basecoat and a clear coat with reducer etc will be around $400 plus ship. And a good gun is $$$$. I feel that a hungry moonlighting painter in your area is better most of the time. You need a lot of equipment and a booth and you may not use the stuff again for a long time. I'm all for Do It Yourself except for body work/painting. That's one area of restoration that takes many, many years to perfect. That's why guys go for that rat rod flat black, anybody can do that. 13 1/2 cans of rustoleum.

The Specs for Windsor Blue, the only light blue color offered that year.
DUCO 246-63225
DULUX 93-63225

Ignore my previous post. Windsor Blue is on page 2 of my chips and I didn't see it.
