I am restoring a '53 one ton that has been sitting for 35 years.

I am trying to determine if the original grill and bumper was chrome, painted one color, or multiple colors.

Surely there is a site to guide me but I can't find it. I have looked at numerous pictures in the gallery and see both paint/chrome.

I just would like it to look as original as possible.

Thanks

Chrome grills were not available from the factory in 1952-53 (due to metal-needs during the Korean Conflict).

Most of the reproduction parts vendors in the Links section sell a Sales Brochure - that would be a good place to get general information on 1953 Chevrolet Trucks.

Here is 1953 painting information. That whole 1953 Specification Booklet is another good source of information (even if pages are missing).

Also, in the Tech Tips is information on how to obtain a Restoration Packet from GM (I think it now costs $50 - the Specifications Booklet shown at the link above is included in the Restoration Packet.
