I am just finishing up this swap now. Its not a bad job but there is some changes that need to be made. If you have a v8 the trans will bolt right up if you have a 6 you will probably need an adaptor plate. If your engine is mounted on the horseshoe in the front then you will have to fabricate or find side mounts and a new crossmember. Mine is a 61 3/4. Yours being a year newer and a c10 may make the swap easier. All you need to do is climb under and take a look at how everything is mounted. You will need a tv cable setup whick is very important unless you like swapping transmisions. The driveshaft needs to be shortend. Depending on the trans you pick you will need a way to lock up the converter. There are many kits out there. If you look through my posts there is a lot of info in there that the guys have given me on here. If thats a 4x4 your looking at getting I don't know if that will work. You may be able to swap the tailshaft. What engine/trans do you currently have? There is a ton of info out there about the 700 so do some research. If your going to do the swap I recomend you go for the overdrive. 700's have a bad rep but if there set up right they will last just as long as everything else.

currently i'm running a 235 i6 and a three speed column shift. the k5 has a crate 350 ad the 700r4 with an overdrive. i feel conflicted as the 235 is running decent now, and i don't want to molest the truck too much. it currently has the original engine ad transmission, matching numbers and all. but the reliability and extra power are enticing. it is a little demoralizing getting passed by geo metros on the freeway...

Lokar makes a very good floor shifter for the automatic tranny. They have 3 different styles. I know some guys who have been using van steering columns. You can also use a column out of several different GM. vehicles
