We really like the 1954 3604 5 window that we brought home. It needs some TLC for sure but is fairly complete. Every time I look at replacement parts, I find that the 3/4 ton pickup parts are more expensive and often not available. I am keeping my eyes open for a 54 1/2 ton as a father/daughter project as a result and not getting too excited about the 3/4 ton for now..

What is the secret to finding replacement parts for 3/4 ton reasonably priced?

Thanks for the help, I enjoy reading this forum..

Depending upon the part, keep an eye out for "1 ton" parts. Frame and wheel parts for 3/4 and 1 ton are very often the same. What kind of parts are you having trouble finding?

I just assume that everything is expensive!

cfesting, good advice, I'm just looking now, don't know what I need yet, but noticed in the ads that many parts are only listed for 1/2 ton or the 3/4 ton is 4 times as much...

What exactly are you looking for? With the exception of the suspension and a few other parts, most everything else is interchangeable.

Some of the mechanical parts that you may need that are different from the 1/2 ton may be available from your local FLAPS for cheaper than the vendors specializing in parts for our trucks. Rockauto is also a good source for many mechanical parts.

I restored a 1949 3600. a friend restored a 53 3600. I found (like you) that the 3/4 tons are a little more expensive, and take a little more looking to find parts.

Napa had all the brake parts I needed. Bowtie Bits in Wichita, Chevs of the 40s and Jim Carters had most if not all of the strange 3/4 ton only parts. Tom Myers truck parts in Miami Ok is a salvage yard of nothing but art deco's, AD's, and TF trucks. He had the split rims I was looking for.

I think the 3/4 ton would be a good project. Plus, I think they are a little more rare, you either see 1/2 ton trucks, or the big bolt grain type trucks.

The 3/4 ton's are sharp especially the 5 window.

I would stick with your 3/4 ton.

I forgot to mention. Your truck look nice. I like the side mount spare and the color is actually growing on me.

That is a great looking truck. I envie you doing a father daughter project. Neither of my kids wants anything to do with my truck except go for rides.

I did a 53 3600. Yes the parts are a little more rare and the cost is a little higher. I found everything I needed at my Flaps, LMC. Classic Truck and found some very resonable parts at swap meets and online bone yards. You can do it. I finished my truck this tear. I would not trade my 3/4 ton for a 1/2 ton any day.

See the pics in my link below, and best fo luck to you and your daughter!
