I had to put a new starter in it last summer before the swap. I think the starter from the auto is bad. I was wondering if I could swap the noses on the two and use the new one or am I asking for trouble. the starter cranks but just not fast enough to fire up the engine. I bought it for $10 which so I wasn't really expecting it to work very well, just needed a core. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 | The nose is generally the only difference so you should be able to make one good one out of the two. Keep in mind that all starters are not created equal in that there are standard and heavy duty versions. A good rebuilder can spot the difference but many parts stores don't know. If you have to get a replacement, ask for the HD. Also go back and clean all of your battery and starter connections. They can also be a source of your problems.
