hey fellas,
left the truck with the mechanic for the week for a tune up, he says we got water in the oil. haven't checked to see how severe the damage is, but he says it looks like i've been driving it around for quite awhile in that state. he's gonna have a look this weekend and see how bad it is. i had a feeling there was something up as everytime i checked the oil i found a whitish gunk on the dipstick and inside the filler cap. but had just hoped it was condensation that hadn't burned off. he says the heads on the 235's are prone to cracking etc and worst case the engine might need rebuilt or swapped. anyone have any advice?
was thinking of a 350/350 swap but read that the 62 frame was an oddball that might make this a little more complicated. maybe premature but any help is appreciated
thanks all

Has your exhaust been blowing white smoke too? It may be something like needing a head gasket replacement, I know my '61 needed to have the head re-milled and after that I had no problems with a similar issue, but breaking your engine down to parade rest is a personal decision, if you do this, at least you know that you have eliminated all questions as to what it could be. If you decide to pick and choose, you get what you invest into your engine. I am certain that someone here has dealt with this, I am interested to see what the prognosis is.

Did your Mechanic preform a preasure check through the radiator. By putting a dye in the radiator you can check if you have a blown head gasket or other problems. The one oil that I had problems with was Penzoil as it would leave a milky residue on the valve cover cap. I switched oil and it went away.If it was me and it continued I would pull the head and have it Magna Fulxed a new gasket after having the head milled and I like to use Copper Cote on my gaskets and have never had any trouble with leaks.

scab vender putting a 350 cu in engine in is easy as any any other engine. Just because it has a X- frame it is a little tite on the tranny area. I have a 350 cu. with a 400 tranny and it fits which is just a shade bigger. The only thing is you may have to modify a factory after market one or make your tranny mount which is what I did. You will have Approxmately 5/8" 3/4" if you use the Rams Horm 2 1/2" center dump manifolds. You will also have about 1/2" clearance on the GM. Rebuiltable Fuel Pump.
The Standard Rams Horn and Fuel Pump will give you a little more room to work with without notching the frame areas. One more thing BESURE YOU USE THE RIGHT MOTOR MOUNTS! Good Luck
