i need a little help! my trans break (emergency break if you will) is missing a part and i dont even know what it is supposed to be. i noticed that the vibration from the engine was enough to disengage it. so i got under the truck, started taking it appart. i dont know how to explane this exactly; there is nothing to hold the break in a locked position. i noticed that the part that the handle controls has teeth or something like its supposed to engage on something, but i have no idea what. if any one knows what im talking about, or if you have pics, or specs, or know where i can get whatever the heck is supposed to be there id appreciate it. thanks!

I have that same type of break on my '63 C20. I am sure they are either very similar or exactly the same. It will take me a couple days but I can get some pictures for you.

oh thank you so much! i would greatly appreciate it! i really have not a clue what the thing is supposed to look like. at least if i know what it is supposed to look like i might be able to fab one or find some sort of replacement. i cant imagine that the thing could be to complicated. thanks so much again! and its no rush, im working on the motor at the minute and its going to be out of comish for a good minute.

Here's some pics of the transmission brake assembly. It's a bit greasy, but it should give you the general idea of how the handle hooks up. I didn't have any degreaser with me, but I will get back out this week and clean it up better for you so you can see a bit more detail. I didn't realize the handle area was this greasy. Anyway, the second picture is the pivot point of the handle, and the third pic is where the handle hooks into the part that compresses the shoes against the output shaft. I will degrease that area so you can see how the teeth hold the handle in place when pulled. More than likely you are missing a spring a something like that.

thank you so much, its the teeth that the thing goes into that im looking for, mine was super greasy too. man if i had known that the hump is removable it probably would have made pulling the break handle off a bit easier! lol. well, its good to know for when i put it back in

Sorry I haven't gotten more pics yet. I had a rough week which included two root canals, so I haven't really felt like crawling around the truck...lol... I'll get some pics for you next week.
