building a 59 3100 and used a 55 cab just realized hood hinges are different, anything else I may run into and any idea how to solve this problem? Seems only problem is te rear of the hood sits to high with all the adjustment taken out

not easy to adapt the 58/9 nose to a 5-7 cab, but it's possible - you'll need to modify the holes on the later hinges to get a fit, that may give you enough extra adjustment .... and if the primary problem is just the rear sticking up, that can be worn hinges, getting new is best

actually the holes line up turns out the hood fits just fine until you put the springs on and then for some reason they hold the rear egde of the hood up just shy of an inch.May not be the right springs , You would'nt believe some of the things I've found holding this truck together. What are the differences between the 55-57 and 58-59 cabs? I'm having a little trouble getting the front fenders in line as well but not too bad.

adding the springs causing the hood to stand proud is THE sign you have worn hinges that need to be replaced, the slight difference in bolt hole location on the 5-7 cab may not be a problem, but ones I've seen are just enough different to prevent much adjustment

there are no other real differences except the firewall was slightly changed where the throttle linkage mounts for the V8 ... the fender alignment problem is more from mating parts from different years, which varied slightly over time as factory equipment and molds wore - even on the line with the TF trucks they had to test fit and discard pieces - into the replacement parts bin
