This is my first vehicle with a 350. I was wondering what is a good RPM level to shift it? And what is considered too low of RPM for cursing in a gear.
It’s a 350 with an NP435-4 speed and 4:10 rear-end in a 66. I don’t use the Granny gear very often. The 350 is a crate motor with only a couple of thousand miles on it.
I don’t consider my truck to be a hot rod and I want to keep it running as long as possible, It’s a cruiser
I have had other vehicles that like high RPM's and will develop problems if you either lug them or don’t rev them high enough. | | |

I used to deive aircooled VWs.
The best thing you can do for those motors is wrap them out and keep down shifting them.
