I have a used 12 volt Ooga horn that I want to put in my 66 Chevy truck. I tried using the existing horn wiring, but it does not have enough power to make the horn work. I have read elsewhere that I need a Bosh style relay to get this to work right. They talk about adding a fuse in the line to the battery. Any idea what size that fuse should be?

Anyone put an ooga horn on you truck? What suggestions would you have for me?

I put one on my 55.1 panel without having to use a relay. I simply connected the OE horn wire to the klaxon horn and it worked perfectly. What kind of amperage does your new horn pull?

I'm not sure what amperage it pulls as it was taken out of another truck (F__d) being junked.

Have you connected it directly to the battery to make sure it works?

My dad and I connected it directly to the battery and it worked fine. I got it wired up yesterday with a bosh style relay and it works, but doesn't have a very good "oooga" sound. But it works. I'll have to see what can be done about the sound.

Someone off forum suggested that I might not have heavy enough wire. Do you think that would make a difference?

The wire size could make a difference, it depends on what current the horn is drawing. Try a larger gauge and see.
