The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Right rear fender not fitting

On my 54 1/2 ton, the right rear fender sits back about a full 1 inch from the end of the running board. I can modify the front of the fender or maybe move the running board back. The fenders were brought in from other trucks and are not original to the 54. I don't know what year they are from. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why I would be so far off?

How well does the left rear fender fit?

How far from the right and left front fenders are the fronts of the running boards?

Clutching at a straw: is your bed mounted at a good right angle to the frame?

The truck is in the body shop now. I'll have to take another look at it. The bed was squared and is equal distance from the sides to the frame in both the front and rear. The left fender is about 1/4 inch from the running board. We can solve that problem easily. The only thing I can think of is the fenders are out of wack. The running boards are new and measure the same. The running board braces are in the same position on both sides. Wierd for sure.

Does the fender fit the bead on the cowl?

If you can't figure it out and everything else fits the saving grace here is that you can only see one side at a time.

Yes, the fender does fit the small indentation on the side bed piece. I was thinking about making the fender holes elongated and slide it forward but it would not match the indentation. The running boards are aftermarket but are sold by Classic Parts so I would, at least for now, think they are the correct length. I'll compare the them to OEM soon.

Check/measure the running board "mounting" brkts. If the braces aren't bent then its got to be the boards. You may have to cut welds and relocate the board brkts.
