I notice that the vendors don't offer a new hood emblem for the 54. They seem to have all the other years. Does anybody know if the front emblem fron a 53 will fit without re-drillng the mounting holes? all the bodywork is done and painted. I have the original emblem but it is a little dented up. I inquired about having the dents taken out of the stainless and the price was crazy.I would like to find the correct year emblem but if I can just get a bolt on replacement I'll do that. thanks

wes,

The 54/55 (front) hood emblem is not made in reproduction. Decent front emblems often come up for sale on eBay (also, if you have not already done so, put a Want Ad in the Swap Meet). Most used front emblems seem to have dents and missing mounting posts (be sure to ask for photos of the mounting posts).

The earlier styles of Advance-Design front hood emblems had the same post pattern. The sheet metal around the holes in the 54/55 hood for the front emblem-posts is different but the post-patterns are the same and the difference cannot be seen once any years' front emblem is in place.

If your dent is not real bad, why not use your front emblem until you find a better one?

These come up on ebay all the time from cheap to really expensive so don't rush. Wait and get a good one and a good price.
