Hello, friends. I have a '54 CarryAll with bad driver & passenger doors (w/vents); can I swap the internal works in these two, vents etc. and put them into two great '52 doors (w/o vents)? Anyone ever done this on a 'Burb or Pickup? Want to know if it'll work. Thanks for any input. I love my CarryAll.

Minor detail - the colors/finishes of window-regulator knobs were different.

There is no difference between a '52 and a '54 door. '51 doors are unique and '47 to '50 doors are a third design.

There is a small difference in '52 and '54 doors but it's not in the windows. It is the way the trim panels and access panels are attached.

The 54/55 trim panels attach with push-buttons, rather than screws. 54CarryAll was asking about "internal works" but I think he could use the push buttons for the 54 trim panels in the 52 door, after drilling out the screw holes?

However, I know there is also a different on the lower-hinge access panel but I do not know what the difference is - I had thought it was the screw diameter (and dimple-size in the hole covers)?

Now I'm not sure if my spare doors are '52 or '51 . . . so I need you guys to tell me if '54 vent window and door window mechanism will also fit inside the steel shell of a '51 door? Sorry. I'm very new -- and inexperienced about the AD trucks, though I drove one for the Chevy dealership I washed cars and ran errands for in the 60s. Thanks, guys.

Does your 51/52 door have a turn-down handle on the outside (as in 51) or a push-button outside door handle (as in 52 and later)?

The answer to this question will determine the type of door latch/catch and control mechanism.

Tim is right on the panel attachment difference. The access cover difference is the earlier doors have nutplates and the '54 doors use sheet metal screws. No one will notice.

Can I assume '55 1st doors have the same access attachment as '54 doors? I don't think I've noticed this difference before....

If the doors with turn down handles have wing windows they are '51 doors. Otherwise they are '50 or earlier.

These doors have no vent windows but have stainless outside window trim and stainless trim around them on the inside window panel . . . will '54 vents and window mechanisms fit in these ventless doors, even if they are '47-'50 doors? They are so much better than my '54 CarryAll doors that I might even use them as is. Thanks for all your help, gentlemen. I'm learning so much from the Forum Section. --Al Lewis

The inside trim for the earlier doors has attaching screws where you wing window will fit so you'll have some open screw holes and will have to drill new holes to attach the trim. Also it will need to have a notch cut in it where the wing latch is.
