I have a chevy 3200 stepside that needs a new rear end. I went to the local junk yard and found one that is 1" wider. The rims I plan on putting on it are crager 15x8's. Does anybody think the one inch wider rear end with these rims will rub?

I" wider is only 1/2" per side, so I doubt it.I used a 76 olds 442 differential without a problem.I think the only problems may arise with what the offset on your rims may be.I'm glad I switched to an open drive line, I also used a 57 Chev passenger car driveshaft as well as a 77 El Camino V8 and a 73 El Camino Transmition .I didn't do too much fabricating too make everything slide into place.

kind of depends on the back spacing of the rims, and the tire going on them... a 325 series tire will come off that rim a little farther than a 255 series tire. 1 inch wider, that's only 1/2 inch on either side. there's a lot of room under those fenders.

Kevin,

If you have a '56 Apache, then you need to measure the outside-to-outside width with the tires/wheels mounted. If that dimension is over 73 inches, then you may be better off obtaining rims with a 1 inch positive offset (Moves wheel toward centerline - They're all over the place). That's what I had to do BUT mine's a Fleetside.
