For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2010 Posts: 1 | Hello, new here so I don't know in the thousands and thousands of posts I have gone through if someone has come across this problem and fix yet... if so would love the help!! I'm using a 88' Ford R&P for my power steering setup and trying to keep the stock Chevy spindle setup. Now the Chevy tierod ends that bolt into the Chevy spindles are larger than the stock Fords tierods and will not work with the Chevy dropped spindles. Is there a bushing kit or some sort of reducer to press into the hole on the spindle to accept the Ford tierod? or a Chevrolet tierod that will connect to Ford rack and pinion and fit into the Chevrolet spindle hole? The spindles are from a full size Chevy truck 1985 and the entire setup is on a 1950 GMC shortbed 1/2 ton. All that is left for the rolling chassis, is to get this rack and pinion setup to work. Have driven people crazy at auto parts places trying to find the correct setup for the whole thing and thought with the vast knowledge out here, someone may know... You're not likely to find a tie rod end that will adapt those parts without some modification. DO NOT WELD ON STEERING COMPONENTS! That's deadly dangerous! Jerry
