I recently had the opportunity to aquire a recently rebuilt 235 from a 59 Impala, upon studying the motor and looking it over, I noticed that the motor mount location is in a different location than those on the original and tired 235 on the ol' 58 apache. The Impala 235 has the mount location about halfway back the lower block, the apache's original mount location is at the front of block, mounting to the front crossmember.
The new 235 does not have the front mount location as an option. Looking for any ideas that I might be able to use. Do the original V-8 mounts use the same location as the inline 235?

The original V-8 frame mounts are not in the same location as the 235 they are an add-on to the frame cross member. There is a bracket which protrudes below the timing cover on the 235 engine. Earlier trucks & cars had a mount on that very point.
You could use something like a rear trans mount from a 350/400TH or something similar. They are about 1 1/2" high and about 3 1/2" long. You would have to drill holes in the crossmember and probably the bracket on the engine. There are also aftermarket crossmember mounts available for V-8 conversions which utilize the center mounts. However, I'm not sure If it would work for the 235 center mount.

Thanks rfs56trk, I spoke to a friend that had the very bracket that you were talking about, it mounts between the timing gear cover and the block, as luck would have it he had a couple of donor motors around, so we pulled one off. The motor mount looks to be the one typical in the advance design trucks, so I will look to see if I will have to drill out the front crossmember on my task force to have it work. As I was looking to check for location, I noticed that the bracket does look to be able to mount on the front crossmember. Thanks for the info and wish me luck!
