I put a chevy 350 in my 58 apache. I purchased some hugger headers because I couldn't get anything else to fit. When I put the headers on, I had to hammer in the header a little bit so that it wouldn't hit the steering box.

Has anyone had any problems overheating their steering box? Should I put a reflective insulation around the steering box? Any advice on this would be appreciated.

That would seem to be a good idea. My concern would be cooking the seal and causing a leak since they are not made to get as hot as a header would probably bake at. If you have a digital electronic thermometer take a reading and see what your up against.

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to spend $15-20 if I didn't have to.
