My truck did not come with a cigarette lighter. I have a hole for it with a delete piecce of rubber in the dash, and I have purchased an original off e-bay. I would like to have a power source for my XM radio, and so forth. Could someone please "walk me through the process"? Any information such as color of wires etc would be appreciated or if you have some photo's that would be cool as well. I tried the "search" feature to no avail. I have a soldering iron, and heat gun with shrink wrap. This will be my first journey into the realm of electricity. Thanks guys & gals

usual color coding is red for + lead and black for ground .... get power for accessories from the fuse panel, or if you don't have one, from the ignition switch, there should be a terminal {ACC] that's hot only when the key is on .... soldered connectors are better than crimped, the heat shrink is a +

in all the 63 to 66 fuse boxes the have one marked for cig lighter. so i would go off that and use the correct gauge fuse. as far as the radio is concerned, can you go off your radio block on the fuse box as well? i like to try to keep things the same if i can. did you get a lighter with the orig wire attached? might ned to research what gauge wire to use for the lighter if you didn't, i know the fuse is a higher one. good luck
