the autozone/ valuecraft pump has a pipe thread 1/2 outlet.
it sticks out about 3/8". it is actually a reducer that threads into the original 3/4 " hole.
it is in there pretty good.
the pic of the pump shown on the autozone computer does not show this.
and of course the original pump does not have this.
the autozone guy is no help.

any one know why these pumps come with this 1/2 threaded pipe sticking out 3/8 of a inch ?
thanks
paul
out of curiosity i checked out ebay and saw these same 3736567 pumps with the same thing!!!
should i return this pump and buy somewhere else ?

The pump has that bushing there to reduce it for the heater vailve.( turns heater off and on from under the hood)You can get a nipple to fit at most flaps

still - i dont think i need it.
do i ?
wondering why these pumps are sent out with this reducer bushing permanetly placed... thus rendering it unable to accept the stock 3/4 pipe thread ?

You must have a rebuilt pump that had the bushing installed for its previous install.

could be.
its interesting because the first one they gave me had the bushing - but i didnot know it... i thought it was a stock broken off hose adaptor, it only stuck out about 1/4 inch and its outer edging was rough like it had been broken off when someone tryed to remove it.
i could not get it off either. if i could have it would have been the end of story because i would have just put the 3/4 incher back.
so i returned it and the autozone guy ordered 2 more. guess what.. yep.
just like the other one.
i think autozone is done with me.
but i really want to put this back the correct way....
