Made an offer on an Offy 4 bbl intake, Stovebolt headers, and a Holley 450. 2 questions: Is 450 CFM big enough for a 292 with cam and slight overbore with headers? Is the Offy and header mating problem from the other current thread a problem with the 292?

Thanks,

Jason

Can anyone chime in? Santucci calls for bigger, I think 650, but anything has to be better than stock, right?

Thanks,

Jason

Carter recommended a 400 CFM carburetor for the Chevrolet 283. The 327/340 HP Corvette used a 575 CFM Carter AFB from the factory.

How does the tune of your engine compare to the Corvette 327/340?

We ran a Carter 400 CFM for many years on our shop 300 CID 6 on an Offy manifold. Plenty of carburetor.

Jon.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.

I'm not sure about the tune,as it is a new(to me) motor and its frozen. I'm in the process of getting the mounts all done and the rebuild is next. It sounds as if it will be good, though. Thank you all,

Jason

450 should be fine, as I used to drive a 77 dodge with a 360 cid V-8... it had a 500 cfm carb and did fine

Thanks again, everyone. I'm getting closer every day, and I just want it to be right and all. I'm sure you can relate...
