Currently, the truck is 100% original. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | i was looking at putting one on my 40 one ton. i located a place for it and when i went to mount it i stopped because its going to conflict with the OD unit i want to put on it in the near future. on my other two trucks the unit is mounted on the inside of the right frame rail just below where the seat is located in the cab. you just run a new line from the M/C to the unit and a new line from the unit to the tee block where your line from the M/C goes now. then you need to run a 1/2" line from the unit back to the intake manifold with a check valve somewhere in the line between the firewall and the intake. you'll also need to have a filter breather or you can make one and either run it into the cab like chevy did or mount it on the firewall like gmc did which also goes on the top end of the control valve housing. i couldnt find 1/2" steel tubing across the counter and was going to use 3/8th brake line but it might be too small. gather all the parts from a 2 ton truck and you'll be on your way to quicker and easier stops that is if the hydravac is good. youll need to bleed the whole brake system after you disconnect the lines. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 720 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 720 | There's also hydro-boosters that use a power steering pump for boost pressure. Should be a tech article on here about them. 1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber" 2007 Chevy Avalanche 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things. But thats just MY opinion! :P

I've got a brochure on a "universal" power brake retrofit unit from the Good Guys show. Bore size might be too small for a big bolt though. I think you can get a Chevy fuel pump with an integrated vacuum pump too. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 165 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 165 | Bendix Hydrovac boosters from Napa still available but around $250, parts are available for them, used from late 40's till 58/59. Power Brake sales in Stockton Ca. has parts but don't supply kits just parts as you need them.
