It can be made to work, but it'll be much more work that what you'll get out if it. The 'Glide only has 2 speeds, and the rearend is not interchangable with the truck. It will also be a higher gear, most likely a 3.55, than the 4.10 that your truck has. I'm not 100% sure if the 'Glide will directly bolt up to the torque tube in the truck.
A better route might be to look at the adapter plate from Langdons and use a 700R4, which will get you not only an automatic, but also an overdrive gear. You'll have to go to an open driveling, but that's not really all that difficult. If you search the site, that conversion ha been covered extensively.
