I was real happy to get my new 235 installed in my 52 Chevy truck. I held up up my 3X1 edelbrock intake and it hit the shifter arms (3speed column). Anyone else had to deal with this and... what can I do?
lastly, have a factory dual exhaust (blue flame corvette) manifold and the long bolts that go through the intake came off. It appears they are welded/brazed on in a shallow recess. I was wondering if I should drill and tap through then JB weld in place?

Not sure on the duel exhaust although my Kansas Customs splits I was running are layed out similarly. Do you plan on keeping the 3 speed or is their a trans swap in the future, and what Carbs are you going to run? The 3X is tight in a truck with standard carbs in my case with the two barrels I had to clearance the firewall. Here's pics of my setup when it was going together the first time. i am planning on running rochesters in the beginning and might have to cap off two carbs at the manifold just to here it run. I like your set up.
i was hoping to here from someone that the manifold is tight but it will fit. i will give it a better look and see if i can massage the shifter arms some? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 6 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 6 | Hi, i had the same problem but it was with the Fenton intake with dual carbs. I rotated the shifter gearbox slightly towards the drivers side(had to file off the small locating pin under the shifter gearbox)retorqued the bolts for the gearbox and it remained in place. Then did some minor re-adjusting of the linkage and could shift without any interference between intake and linkage. Hope this helps | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 17 | YEA, something to try! I have to believe that it fits, to many out there. going to a hot rod show this weekend and i will watch for six's running multiple carbs.

Patrick's told me to shorten the column arm (cut and weld) and take the same amount out of the arm on the trans to maintain the geometry. Worked fine. I tried turning the box and adjusting the linkage. If I put the linkage where it works the arms from the box hit the steering column going down and keep the tranny from shifting all the way.
I have instead acquired a 2X1 that should clear.
I really need to move past this problem. The end is near and I am ready to go for a ride!!!
Thanks for the help. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 | Get a spare shift box and cut the arms similar to the angled mark shown here. Then weld flatbar extensions to reach under the intake like this. With some trial and error you’ll get it done.

Just curious about the rear gas line. Delrin spacers? And, if you do, what exhaust? I am leaning towards turbo's - flowmasters. I don't really want the cackle/racking... what ever it is called when you goose it.
We have a big swap meet coming up this month and I will see about buying an another box. Why did you bore the shifter box hole?
Did the dual manifold hit the shifting arms also? I told my wife it wouldn't!!!

I am not wanting to have to rebuild my shift linkage!
I will be running a single soon just to hear it tick. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 17 | ApacheFiend, did you have to modify your linkage? I just looked at your photo's. Looks cool. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 17 | thought I replied, yes Pate is the 29th-1st.
looked at your pics, does your manifold hit? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 547 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 547 | My linkage doesn't interfere at all. Have you tried adjusting the linkage? I would think that your new manifold would be just as long as my new Fenton one is, just with the Carb mounts/holes in different locations.

The 3X1 is longer, my 2X1 should be here friday. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 547 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 547 | Well your 2x1 will fit for sure. I know some guys have had issues witht thier 3x1's before, but I think it was the bracer bar in the AD Trucks interferring with the rear most Carb. Well, if you have any more questions just holler, or i can take some pictures of my current set up and send them to ya! (my photo album is seriously out of date, oops)
