I was the first to actually look at it. Purchased for $1000.00 plus 8 hours of bartered labor. Were you able to drive it home? | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 | Scored? you stole it. Its nice. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 46 | I couldn't drive it away. One of the rear brakes is locked up. It'll move up and down the driveway on it's own. I'm trying to find a lowboy trailer I can borrow to get it home. | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Looks like you got a great deal, asuming the bartered labor doesn't involve nudity! Great looking old truck JD,it looks better for it's age than some of 'us' Bolters. I've definately got this truck thing in my blood ... my DNA sequence has torque settings"Of all the small nations of this earth, perhaps only the ancient Greeks surpass the Scots in their contribution to mankind" Winston Churchill.

What a nice truck, and the price, you can't beat that. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 46 | I've been digging into the history on the truck. From what I've learned so far, the truck was in service with the Hetch-Hetchy Water & Power Department. By 1941, all the heavy construction was completed. I don't think this truck ever saw any rough service and may have been garaged at Moccasin Power House Facility. Here's a brief history of HHW&P: http://sfwater.org/Files/History/HH_historybrochure.pdfNext month, I'll spend an afternoon at the SF Public Library and see what I can dig out of their archives. | | |
