Hello All,

I'm new to the forum and need some help finding some replacement parts. I've done searches on the website but I'm not finding any answers.

I have a '64 Chevy C20 with the 292...this was my grandfather's farm truck from new...so everything is pretty much original.

1) I need to replace the parking brake shoe as the old one is shot. This parking brake is the style found on the back of the transmission. No one seems to have a replacement shoe/band? Do I need to reline the old one?

2) I'd like to replace the top radiator hose but none of the local parts stores can find one that fits. A flexi hose was put on 10 years ago so I don't have the original hose to compare to. Anyone know where one can be found...LMC says they have one that fits but I question if it's really the correct one?

Thanks,
Greg

Classic Parts Of America has the formed hoses for sixes part# 82-152. The ones from LMC are most likely similar although I can't find my catalog. I have a 63 C 20 with the same parking brake. Mine is still in good shape luckily. Check the forums as I have seen this same question raised before. Good Luck.

You can't seem to find that band anymore. You prety much need to take it to a brake lining shop & have it relined.
The top rad. hose should be listed at the parts store. I will check some catalogs at when I get to the shop tomorrow.
You are wise not to get a radiator hose from LMC. They put a number on anything that looks like it will fit.

Gates part number. 20594 or 20492. They are available from Carquest stores. You have to cut part of it off.

Thanks Wrenchbender! I will give 20492 a try. I think NAPA got me 20594 but it went right past the water inlet at the water pump. 20492 looks like it has the correct right angle bends at both ends.

I did find that "www.industrialbrakeclutch.com" will reline my band for $85 + plus shipping. I'm going to keep looking around for a local shop to do it...but it seems like it's a specialty thing. Oh, "WWW.ALLFRICTIONS.COM" says they can reline too...but they didn't give me a quote up front.

Miner54, thanks for responding! The part "82-152" Classic Parts lists looks like the Napa hose I got that was missing the right turns on both ends. I can't figure out why they also list it as a "fit" for the six?

Just an update:

1) Top Radiator Hose Part#20492 from Car Quest did fit with a little cutting on both ends. No more ugly flexihose!

2) I found a brake shop here in Lancaster, PA that relined my old parking brake band for $95. Had it back in one day. The company is "The Brake Shop" and is part of Lancaster Starter and Alternator Service. Check them out if you need anything relined...717-471-0401.
