In the process we found the original head had 9 different cracks, so I purchased a ’60 head which now has been fitted with new valves, guides and hardened seats. If the casting number ends in "848", that's the best possible head to run on a 235, compression-wise. You might need to adjust the ignition timing to the later engine's specifications to take full advantage of the compression change. Jerry

Yes the timing will be an adventure. The engine including cam and distributor are '53PG, and the flywheel is a '41. No telling where to set the "ball". I did check before I put the head on and found TDC. Using a little math the ball looks to be about 5 degrees before TDC.
