I've been reviewing posts and pictures of Bolters who installed tilt steering columns. I have one out of a 94 Blazer. It seems there should be added support under the dash for the column since the stock tube was supported from the steering box on the frame. The stock brace from the upper firewall to the underside of the dash seems too horizontal to help much. Anyone solved this problem or is it a problem?

Yes, you do need support at the end of the tube where it goes through the firewall. Some of the aftermarket suppliers make a bracket kit for this issue. You can make one with an angle bracket and a clamp which is pretty much what they are going to sell you. It can be covered up by the mat or carpet.

Thanks for responding. I plan to install support at the floor area. My real concern is some people use the wheel to swing their weight into the seat. There doesn't seem to be enough support at the underside of the dash where the small loop connected the stock tube.

It should be fine when both are in place. I have seen some aftermarket aluminum brackets for street rods and such but they don't really offer any more support than the original bracket.
