According to a lot of the information I've read it says the 250 wasn't available in the trucks until 1966. However my 1965 has the 250. It was a special ordered fleet truck for the Saskatchewan Government and built in Canada so I don't know if this changes things.

I have Leo Santucci's book on modifying the 6-cylinders and it lists that the the 250 was available in trucks from 1962 and my block's casting number is consistent with being a 250.

Any thoughts?

It's the original engine. When I pulled it a few years back I remember noticing that the numbers match.

My 65 had one as well until it blew up.

How do I know so much about these trucks?
I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

That doesn't sound good. Mine had 94,000 miles on it when I pulled it and it was still running just fine.

It'll be rebuilt (not stock) and put back in the truck. smile
