I have a 56 1 ton panel and I'm looking at a 1 ton straight axle from a 52. Will they swap?

Front or rear, and what do you hope to gain, or why the question?

Front. Somebody added a 4x4 setup at some point and its just a mess. So I was on the Freebe list and found a stright axle and its from a 52. Been lookin for one for a 56 and just hoped the 52 would work.
