The shop said that I should stick with same year bolts due to differences in metal tensil/strengths. They also reported that my water outlet where the thermostat sits was cracked. Any ideas where I can find replacements?????
Also, am looking for a "condenser" unit that mounted on the firewall and was used to receive and cool down the radiator overflow. If I can't find one for a 54 what other model years will work??

I will have 3 engines to give away soon come and get them | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 343 Member | | Member Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 343 | I just purchased replacement head bolts from ARP for my 261 and they should also work for your 235. The 5" bolts are longer than the original 4-9/16", but I measured the head and block and the longer bolts will work with room to spare, even with out the added washer and head gasket thickness. If you do decide to order them you should measure to make sure these bolts will work for you (make sure the bolt holes are clean). If your head and block have been milled your clearances may be different than mine. Here are the ARP part numbers:
6AR5.000-1.....1/2-13 12PT Bolt X 5.00" $8.99/ea
6AR3.250-1L.....1/2-13 12PT Low Head Bolt $4.70/ea
ARW78.....Chamfer Washer 1/2" ID, 7/8" OD $0.69/ea
