| | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 50 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 50 | I went to NAPA and picked up a new radiator cap for my truck.Its a 58 GMC 250 with a 270, it has the original radiator.I got the part number that I needed on NAPA online and went and picked it up.Its a 7 pound like the one I had but it wont press down enough to screw on.Any ideas? What other numbers/brands do you use?

Jeremy | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,744 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,744 | Can't provide a specific part number, but if you measure the depth of the radiator neck from the top of the flange to the seat where the gasket seals, then buy a 7# cap that is about 1/4" longer than that measurement, it should work. There are at least two different neck depths, and it sounds like you've got the cap for the longer one.
