Just inherited a '63 and am trying to figure out what engine is in it.

On the pad near the distributor is F012OPC

Block casting is 3921968, with GM 56 under it. Left of that is CON2 and L138.

Front of the head is 2F 2084 and rear of the head has 2088.

Thanks for any help. Just need a year and engine type for teh parts guys at the store.

Block casting 3921968 should be a 250.
The head casting is listed as 3962084.

L138 is the date code.
L = month 12
13 = day
8 = year

Anyone? Trying to get some parts. From that code I think it is a 230, but not sure.

Thanks

Using Tom's explanation of your L138 date code you have a Dec 13, 1968 engine built for the 69' models.

Looking at this list from chuckthetruck,
http://no25.chuckthetruck.com/page3.html
the 'PC' engine serial number suffix shows up as a 250 with manual transmission for trucks in 1969.

The date code and the 'PC' suffix says 250 engine in my thinking.
Hope this helps.
