Here is what I have. The left-side bolts to the trans. The shaft goes through and the bearing sits in the right-side cup. The shield slides on then the u-joint yoke bolts to the right-end of the shaft. The right-end goes into the bracket that bolts to the frame. The problem is there is a 1-inch gap between the right-end cup and the inside of the bracket. In addition I see no way of sealing this. There are no other parts.
All Parts If you look at this bracket it looks like a piece has been welded on. Kind of hard to see. I have a driveshaft carrier bearing rubber cushion on order but I'm not sure if it fits the outside of the right-end between the outside of the bearing cup and the inside of this bracket.
Welded up The trans side of this bolts-up fine. On the u-joint yoke end of this shaft the ring above the splines is metal. There is no seal anywhere. There are no threads on the yoke for a seal retainer ring. This whole intermediate section was wet, obviously leaking for some time.
No Seal I'm not sure but at this point I would say this has been pieced together and there is no way to add a seal unless I use silicone or something like that. My questions. Will the driveshaft carrier bearing rubber cushion fit inside the bracket around the bearing cup and how do I seal this puppy?
