The secons one you have linked should work very well, as the leds are spread over the entire lens. The Technostalgia kit works similar, exept that you use the existing lens. I did a minor alteration to mine so the blue dots still work.

I know part of the problem with led bulbs is that they project the light which makes the reflector in the lamp assy. less useful, along with less overall light dispersion. It would be nice to know if the bulb idea really improves something or is just another HP idea that sounds good. Please let us know what you determine after installing those bulbs.

My first upgrade was to replace the the two small lamps with an 1157. That moved the light output from "birthday candle" to "weak flashlight". Following drivers still seemed a bit startled to see an elderly truck stopped ahead with no warning. I just put round trailer lights back there, and I've yet to see a surprised driver behind me. This truck is a daily driver and I'm willing to sacrifice some originality for less bodywork.
