I can't get the pistons to move in my 216 motor
I got the head off and the pan off..I dont't see
any damage..won't move..I poured some penetrating oil on top of the pistions..hoping tomorrow it
will loosen up...My neighbour says I should put
a block of wood on top of the pistons and strike
it a couple of time...What do you think?

Yep . I had a tight ( rusted ) '39 motor . It took a couple of months of penetration oil , block of wood and a hammer .
I would give it a hit each day or so as I was going past it .
Had to resort to a large brass drift to get the last piston to move stubborn thing .
It all came apart eventually .

When I took the oil pan off the bottom..I noticed
the screen laying in the bottom..How does this
attach to the bottom of the pump..I did see some
rotted haywire laying there also..

I let it soak overnite and found a piece of wood
that I thought would do...then every once in a
while I tapped them...and what do you know just
like you said..slowly they started to move..

There is a metal pre bent wire that goes from one side of the oil pickup to the other. It attaches in two little holes on the sides. It holds on the screen.

Since oil pumps are only about $45 and your engine sat for so long I would probably just replace the whole thing.
