I currently have a 65 C10 with a column mounted three speed(Saginaw) powered by a 350. Is it possible to place a truck 4 speed into this location and use the larger floor "hump" from a 64-66 to cover the area. I have never torn the floor area down this far so I don't know if these three speed and four speed panels are interchangeable? I would like to upgrade and have access to a four speed. I have found after having the truck for 30 years that the three speed is the weak link with this motor.

I did this to my 62.I'm sure 64-66 is the same. The access panel unbolts, & you have to drill the spot welds on the smaller panel in front of it to match. Easy cheesy. Then you get a new floor mat !-)

Depends on the year and if your cab came off a larger truck. Find a high hump piece and you might have to add the front cowl section as well. Some of the larger size trucks had a removable cowl section. The 66 cab I picked up, the center section is not removable.

in my 66 it was changed over to the sm420 4 speed and kept the low hump. a hole was cut and it banged out with a hammer, kept the orig mat. i have unbolted low humps and bolted in high humps several times with no problems. some of the big trucks like the c60's had a pretty flat pan with almost no hump because the cab set up higher. but i find things all the time i haven't seen before, so hopefully your will work with a easy exchange.

Thank you for your input on my tranny questions, I am also new to this group even though I have looked at the website for years. This is consistently one of the best websites for any truck info I have found yet. I have owned and driven this 65 for 30 years and had to rebuild the 350 at the 27 year mark due to a blown head gasket. Other than that, it has been wires, tires, antifreeze! At this point it deserves painting and fluffing again. Prior to this ride I had other Chevy trucks back to high school. On this website there is no shortage of people with ideas, knowledge, or assistance to take care of one's dilemma! And you guys who have been into these projects put a great perspective on the new folks who want to create the truck of their dreams, only as we have seen before to end up on Ebay as someone stated. Thanks for a great website.
