I know on the Chevy the middle portions of both are painted and the top and bottoms are natural finished, polished stainless steel. My question is on the GMC are both pieces entirely painted and what color? Some if the information I have seen indicates that the GMC speaker grill and glove box were painted a different color than the Chevy. My speaker grill is entirely painted, but the glove box door is natural finished stainless top and bottom the same as a Chevy but the painted portion matches the color of the speaker grill. I had already been to that website and still am not sure about the correct color for the interior and dash and whether the GMC had the exposed polished stainless strips on the top and bottom of the speaker grill and glove box door like the Chevy. My GMC has what I believe to be original paint and it is more the "champaign" color rather than the brown color I have seen in the photos in the links. I have read a lot regarding paint. It appears to be a highly debated topic, especially in the GMC world. This is just my opinion, but I would trust the posting from "oldcarkook" regarding the mid 80s Corvette Metallic Bronze (flattened). I belive this is the number...PPG 3898 and is called DK Beige Poly. This is the color I plan to use.
As far as the chrome... I believe all dash parts were painted in 1952 and 1953. However, I have read there were exceptions to the rule.
