Is this a good conversion to make?
Do I have to cut the driveshaft?
What should I look out for?
I haven't heard many people doing this conversion.
I could use a extra gear.

if it's a truck trans, it should be a dirct bolt in
look out for 'complete and works', including the electric bits like the solenoid
if you search "3 speed OD" you should be able to find lots here about folks using it and much discussion
Bill | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 | your 58 has a 4bolt side cover, some later model saginaw 3sp/od trans had a 7 bolt side cover. they will change without a problem, but the shift arms are not the same so you will need to do some changes with the shift linkage.
