I have searched and cannot seem to find this info in existing threads. I have a 55 TF 1/2 ton that a prior owner lowered. I am looking to restore it to factory ride height. Can anyone tell me the measurement from the top of the rear axle housing to the bottom of the frame on a stock truck? Ditto the front axle measurement? Or perhaps the measurement from the frame (top or bottom) to the ground? Any stock ride height measurements? Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the bolt. Here are a few pretty rough numbers from my 55 second series 3200.

Top of axle housing to frame at rear (measured about 5 inches toward inside of spring) is 5-5/16 inches on left side and 5-3/4 inches on right. The truck has maybe 3-400 pounds of parts in the bed and a wood canopy.

Spring perch to frame in front (measured just outside of spring) is 6 inches.

And from the restoration packet (page 65 of 1955 specifications) the standard platform height for model 3104 and 3204 (which I interpret as the height of bed above the ground) is 25.47 loaded and 27.73 unloaded using 6.70-15-4pr tires front and rear.

How was your truck lowered? Does it still run the stock axles? If the PO just removed leafs or went to monos, seems to me all you'd have to do is install a set of stock replacement springs and you should be right back to original height.

Truck has a single leaf in the front and axle is sitting right on the bumper. The rear is out of a 71 Chevelle (12 bolt) and I can see where the original spring perches (probably coil springs on Chevelle?) were cut off and new leaf spring perches welded on top of the housing. There were homemade shackles on the back end. I'm looking for measurements so that I know what I'm shooting for. Thanks for the responses.
