Howdy,
I was looking at my wiring on my 55 1st,
all stock (I think). I have some flag terminals that could use replacing, can I sub them out with crimped insulated ring terminals that are more readily available?
Or do I need I replace them with the same type of terminals? Thank you in advance!

Of course Pat, all that you need to do is make a good solid electrical connection. They simply use that particular connector because it gives the best visual flow to the wiring harness and usually the shortest route for the wire. If your only interest is in keeping the vehicle running and don’t care about how it looks then you could even twist the wires up and tuck them under the nut and that would work. On the other hand if you want to maintain the correct look then you should use the correct connector. You can order them from places like this; http://www.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/

When I replaced the wires going to the fuse box I would like to have used flag terminals as the ring type stick out to far and unless you bring them all towards the bottom the lid won't cover easily.
However I think the fuse box on your truck is easier.
