I know what you thinking, but I need the help on this one! I don't dare ask which color is correct, I just want to know why are some engines blue and some grey?
I have a 1950 Canopy Express and my engine is blue
and many people I talk to say it needs to be grey.
Is it a year thing or a size thing?

Also, If you do not have anything constructive to say please do not respond. I'm not trying to waist your time I just trying to find a good answer for me because some people like myself are not experts yet and where not even born then.

Help!

no need to start off defensively Justin, we don't mind your waist wink

there's always been and will always be some debate about engine colors, especially because one color is actually blue-grey [which yours should be], which is often mistakely called simply blue .... see this list, it comes closest to what's generally accepted, but translating those color names into actual paint codes is another topic!

one reason we find engines in 50/60 year old vehicles that don't appear as some expect, apart from the variation in colors used over time, is because of engine replacement, as well as the fact that some years the engines used in cars vs trucks or with particular transmissions were different colors - and yes, different size engines were different colors
