dbros1206's photo collection

This fella is a heavy equipment mechanic and apparently he gets around his area in Arkansas and nearby states. It seems he takes his camera with him and he has a very interesting collection of photos of abandoned old barns, houses, buildings, tractors, dozers and trucks of all kinds.

There are several neat old big bolts in the truck collection.

enjoy,

-W

That was a great picture book.

I sent the photographer a message in flickr with the links I made on the old truck boards... here is his reply:

Wow, many thanks for all the kind comments from your friends. I used to drive a 65 C10 SWB as my main driver. She was a sweet ride.

I see alot of old trucks when out with my camera, and the wife. She is my navagator. Maybe some great finds this year.......I hope.

Thanks again,

Awesome. I'm driving home to Southeast MO next month from NC, I'm gonna plan some of this into the trip if possible.

Someone needs to make a pickup with one of those 60s era COE cabs.

Some awesome pics of old mainstreet scenes and trucks. But looking at these pics makes me wonder if small town USA has
been totally abandoned and everyone is now living in the big cities ?

kiwiwilly - not exactly.

The big cities have sprawled out into the rural areas... if you look on google maps using the satellite view you can see what I mean.

There are still lots of small towns left that are doing well.

It all depends on the people in the town willing to try something different when the local cash cow leaves or the conditions for the local industry dry up.

Some towns only existed for one or two reasons... and if those reasons leave, the reason for the town goes with it.

Main street Wanganui where I live almost died some years ago when a large mall opened up at the far end of town. Some local businesses and the city decided to revamp our mainstreet with new sidewalks, raised crosswalks, trees and rebuilt shop frontages and now we have a really beautifull mainstreet with new cafes etc.
The result being the most people prefere to mainstreet shops owned by mostly locals and not the mall who's shops are big multi nationals.

I saw this posted somewhere a few years ago, maybe over at Chevytalk. Looks like identical stuff but was nice to see it again.

It may not be there anymore. When the price of scrap went up some of that HEAVY stuff may be now in China. Sad but likely.

Anyway, it was nice to take a trip back to more peaceful times!!

I recognize that ford wrecker because it used to be mine. Wish I had a picture of the grill and windshield because he made it look like mater. Just glad to see it is still there.
Thanks

Yup, I posted it over there ages ago as well.

I was checking out the thread the other day and looks like he'd added some more stuff.

It's a fun collection to flip through.

Oh, beautiful eye candy! Thanks!

I've been to see Big Brutus. It is very neat, and if you're in eastern Kansas, I recomend the trip.

Also, I would love to have that bashed in grille for that '37 truck on page 16. <drool, drool> ... probably isn't a 1.5 ton, though ... LOL

Thanks, really enjoyed the pics. The guy is a great photographer and takes my kind of pics. grin thumbs_up
