Hi everyone can anyone tell me any details about my 57 3100 shortbed.Frame number is 57L106071,truck was dark green under the grey primer it arrived with.Thanks mark

hey Mark, you're the one with the details smile all that number can tell you is that it's a 57 truck assembled in Los Angeles, the rest of the number means it was the 6,070th one from that plant

the 'frame number' is an incomplete part of the ID number [vin or serial number] that should be on a tag on the drivers door post, a 3100 would start with "3A" [114" WB] - if it started with a "V" it would have been V8 equipped, other than that numbers can't provide any real detail

Thanks Bill, cab is at paint at the moment but have the plate here .I will find it and post up the vin number.The truck came with a 283 V8 with 3 speed.Have been doing body off restoration since Mar 09.Truck was dark green thanks again for your reply.Mark

If it had the original engine, it would be a 265, 283s were not installed facotry in '57 in trucks under 2 ton.
